The United Arab Emirates is home to one of the world's most active gold markets. Dubai's Deira Gold Souk — a labyrinth of over 300 jewellers — handles an estimated 25% of the world's gold trade, making UAE gold prices a key benchmark for the entire GCC region.
Fuel prices in the UAE are set monthly by the Fuel Price Committee and apply uniformly across all seven emirates. The UAE was among the first Gulf nations to deregulate fuel pricing in 2015, linking pump prices to global oil markets. Four grades are available: Super 98, Special 95, E-Plus 91, and Diesel.
The UAE Dirham (AED) has been pegged to the US Dollar at a fixed rate of 3.6725 since 1997, making it one of the world's most stable currencies. This peg makes AED/USD rates unchanging — the fluctuations you see are in EUR, GBP, INR, and other currencies against the dollar.
