Petrol and diesel prices in India are revised daily by the three Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs): Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL). This daily revision system (introduced in 2017) links Indian pump prices more closely to international crude oil prices and INR/USD movements, replacing the previous fortnightly revision system.

This is why Mumbai residents pay notably more for petrol than Delhi residents, even buying from the same brand station on the same day.
